This has always
been one of my favorite adventures.
Though the DM would have to read carefully to make the beautiful Jeff
Easley cover become a scene that actually takes place during Death’s Ride, it’s not impossible. Though this adventure may seem very non-linear,
the dominoes put in place by Mr. Spiegle must fall in a very precise order, and
this could be frustrating for players who missed a clue or failed to take
certain actions. As a fail-safe, each
key location in the module begins with a bolded list of key events and bits of
information the PCs should accomplish before moving on. Overall, this is a very tight adventure—and
that tightness may be its only flaw—and a very enjoyable story. If played correctly, this could very well be
the most horrific adventure ever published for the original D&D rules set.
Realm Rating: 4.5/5
